Halloween Road Safety Tips

Halloween is right around the corner, bringing with it the excitement of creative costumes, neighborhood trick-or-treating, festive parties, and plenty of sweet treats. But amid all the fun, it is also one of the busiest times of the year for foot traffic and celebrations.

Beyond the usual hustle and bustle of costumed crowds, the evening brings unique visibility challenges. With sunset arriving early in the evening and children dressed in dark costumes that easily blend into the shadows, pedestrian alertness is more critical than ever. Furthermore, the chaotic mix of excited kids, distracted motorists, and congested residential streets creates an environment where a split second of inattention can lead to an accident.

To help ensure everyone has a spooktacular and safe night, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has put together a list of essential safety tips for drivers, pedestrians, partygoers, and hosts alike.

With little ghosts and goblins roaming the neighborhood, roads can become unexpectedly hectic. Both drivers and pedestrians need to stay extra vigilant.
